Features of Saga
Health statistics
When the Directorate of Health requests information on health statistics or for monitoring purposes, that information is readily available. Saga sends data directly to the vaccination database of the Directorate of Health and to the Iceland Accident Register and records of notifiable diseases to the appropriate database.
Appointments and reception
Saga can be used to set up schedules for service, telephone hours and reception. Customers can make an appointment or book online and receive an SMS reminder. It is possible to get an overview of arrivals and unused appointments. The system downloads the updated national register daily.
Invoicing and statements
The Saga medical records system offers invoicing, settlements and statements. Electronic statements of specialist invoices and material expenses are sent to Iceland Health Insurance.
Clinical registration
Prescriptions can be sent electronically to pharmacies, and electronic forms such as doctor's letters, referrals, test requests and test results can be sent to other institutions. The system contains various specialised forms for e.g. ophthalmologists, paediatricians, orthopaedists, dermatologists and gynaecologists, as well as birth notifications, diabetes registers, procedure descriptions and anaesthesia registers as well as all necessary forms and certificates from the Social Insurance Administration, Iceland Health Insurance and the Directorate of Labour. It is possible to connect vital signs monitors and EKG machines directly to Saga and the results are automatically entered in the medical record.
Coding system
All coding systems that health professionals are required to use according to the guidelines of the Directorate of Health are available in the system, including ICD-10 diagnoses, NCSP and NCSP+ procedures, and standard nursing diagnoses and nursing treatments. It also includes PHYSIO codes for physical therapist treatments, and several legacy coding systems are also available based on legacy medical records systems and/or specialised information classification.
Connection to Heilsuvera
Heilsuvera is a secure website where the public can communicate with health professionals and access data from their own medical record, e.g. prescriptions and vaccinations. The communication will automatically become part of a person's medical record.
A person can request the renewal of prescriptions through Heilsuvera and book appointments with the institutions and physicians that offer it. Physicians can renew and reject a request for a prescription renewal in a simple way through the Heilsuvera communication desktop in Saga.
